How to Survive Winter with a Newborn

How to Survive Winter with a Newborn

Being stuck inside might have you going insane, but a pacifier wristband is one thing that can help you save your sanity during these winter months!

Starting off your parenting journey in the dead of winter can be challenging. Both of my boys were born in January and December, respectively so I was once in your shoes! The freezing cold temps make it nearly impossible to get outside. Sometimes family can’t come to visit due to poor weather conditions and family is crucial in the newborn stage! The winter months also bring the stress of cold and flu season!

Needless to say, there are plenty of things that make bringing a new baby into the world in the winter months challenging. Here’s a few tips to make your transition during the chilly temps as easy as possible!

  1. Snowsuit: I wouldn’t recommend taking a newborn out for long in cold temperatures, but if you find yourself needing to get out of the house for a short walk a snowsuit is a great item to have. These will be great for your babies from late fall to early spring so they are worth the investment! However, if you don’t want to shell out a lot of cash, kid thrift stores like Once Upon a Child are flooded with this type of coat for littles for less than $10!
  2. Car Seat Cover: Babies are not supposed to wear coats of any kind in their car seats for safety reasons. If you are transporting your little one in and out of the doctor’s office or store get a car seat cover! Keep your little one in their car seat and bundle them up with blankets and a car seat cover to keep the cold wind off their face!
  3. Hand Sanitizer: Cold and flu season is no joke. Our oldest was in daycare when his little brother was born and he brought home all the germs. Our daughter had RSV at 4 months old and it was a terrifying experience. Take every precaution that can! Stock up on hand sanitizer. Don’t let people touch your child without asking and make sure people are not sick when they visit you and your little one!
  4. Pacifier: When you’re stuck inside for weeks (or months) on end with a screaming newborn, it doesn’t take long to go crazy. Infant pacifiers are great for helping babies to calm down. However, it’s hard to keep babies calm for long if their newborn pacifier keeps falling out! This is also a bad problem to have during cold and flu season. You don’t want your newborn pacifier to keep falling out and picking up nasty germs.

A pacifier clip has been the typical solution to this problem. However, the Ingy Bingy Band is a safer alternative to a pacifier clip. The Ingy Bingy Band is a pacifier wristband that helps your fussy baby to calm down all on their own. This pacifier bracelet helps babies to self-soothe from as early as four months old! They can find it on their own and use it whenever they need it without help from mom or dad!

Solidarity to all the parents surviving winter with a newborn! You are doing a fantastic job!

The Ingy Bingy Band is not your everyday pacifier clip! This game-changing pacifier wristband helps babies self-soothe at a younger age than ever before! Instinctively, babies gnaw on their hands in an attempt to soothe. The Ingy Bingy pacifier wristband keeps their pacifier right where they’ll find it, allowing your baby to comfort and calm themselves while you do whatever it is you need to do!
